A Place to Remember. A Place to Reconnect. A Place to Grow.
For generations, Jordan Pond has held a special place in the heart of Shrewsbury. From fishing and boating to ice skating and peaceful walks, it has been a place where families gather, friendships grow, and lasting memories are made.
Today, our community has an opportunity to come together and renew this cherished space — transforming a place touched by tragedy into one that reflects the strength, compassion, and hope of Shrewsbury.
In partnership with Kevin Doherty's family, the Rotary Club of Shrewsbury is creating the Kevin Doherty Peace Garden— a living tribute that celebrates Kevin's life while offering a welcoming place for reflection, connection, and healing.
Through native plantings, meaningful artwork, and spaces to pause and reflect, the garden will be a lasting symbol of what we can accomplish when neighbors come together.
More than a memorial, this garden is a promise to future generations: that Jordan Pond will remain a place of beauty, belonging, kindness, and peace.
A garden with a lasting purpose

The project is in development. The illustration is a proposed concept; garden features, planting selections, and timing remain subject to confirmation.
A living place of peace
The concept illustrates a garden for remembrance and reflection, with a central tree sculpture, benches, a peace pole, an engraved entrance stone, student-painted rocks, and native, pollinator-friendly plantings. These are proposed elements and may evolve as planning continues.
